It´s always time for a nice chat and a cup of coffee!!
And get the chance to talk to other parents from school. Whether you have been here for a long time or just arrived, it´s always nice to talk to each other and exchange ideas, holiday stories or simply e-mail addresses and phone numbers.
For new parents a good opportunity to find your first steps in a new environment with a little advice and support from others.
So we would like to invite you for coffee:
When: Friday, 3 September 2010
Time: 09.00 o´clock
Where: Starbucks Binjang, No. 1232 Dong Xin Avenue, 2nd floor
(for people who have never been there: that is totally on the other end of the street from HIS, please ask the reception for directions if you don´t know where it is)
Election of PAFA team and class representatives
During this get-together we will choose our new PAFA team and class representatives for the different grades. And if you have not signed up yet as a PAFA volunteer, this is the time to do it! We just ask a little of your time to make our events possible. Your contribution is very much appreciated!
The coffee mornings will be organized on a monthly basis, so keep an eye on the PAFA board in the reception room or on the website http://iweb.scisdragons.net/hz/ and go to the PAFA link for information about our activities. Should you have any questions, please contact PAFA at pafa_hz@scischina.org.
Hope to see you all there!

Lower School Open House Reminder:
Date: Thursday, September 2nd
Time: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

All parents of students from PS through grade 5 are invited to the Lower School Back to School Night. Parents are invited to meet in the Performance Center for a short general information session where you will also have a chance to meet the specials teachers (Art, PE, Library, Mandarin, Music, etc.)

After the General Information Session you will have a chance to visit your child’s classroom where you will receive more detailed information about each particular class (schedules, daily routines, expectations, etc.) During this visit we invite parents to please update any information about you child that can assist the teacher. Things change, parent emails change, students develop allergies etc. and this is a great opportunity to make sure your child’s teacher in aware of your child’s needs.

The final part of the evening will be dedicated to parents visiting the special classes and talking to these teachers about their programs.

The administration would like to remind parents that the purpose of Back to School Night is to inform parents about general school and class topics. If you have particularly personal questions or items that need to be addressed it is more efficient to do so in a previously arranged meeting with the teacher or administration.

Today was the culmination of another wonderful year of learning and growth at HIS.  It was aptly demonstrated at the final End of Year Assembly.  The entire school gathered to watch “Hangzhou Idol”.  There is amazing talent in our Upper School students!  Departing students and teachers were recognized and wished well in their new adventures.  PAFA representatives were on hand to honor the departing teachers. It was a glorious way to spend our last hour of 2009-10 at HIS.

We hope that everyone has a safe summer.  It’s hard to imagine August and the start of the next school year, but it will be here in a blink of an eye.  Enjoy!oMCVqh

Dear Parents,

Even though the rain washed out our field day today, the teachers gathered together to come up with an alternate plan for tomorrow.  Please do try to have your child in their color clothes again–if possible.  We know it might not be possible.

To make sure that the activities are not washed out again, we’ve had to change the location and the  timing of the activities as well.  We will do all of the activities in the gym and the blue top and begin at 10:00am in the Spa for our color group cheers.

Thank you all for understanding!  Our day may have been soggy today, but our spirit is not dampened!  Tomorrow is a go!

Dear Parents,

Wed., June 9th is LS Field Day from 9:00-11:30.  Pre-school, pre-kg. and Kg. will be having their activities, while grades 1-5 will do their activities.  Grades 1-5 have been placed into color groups.  You child should know their color and may come dressed in their color t-shirt.  You may contact your child’s teacher if you need that information. Please also send along an extra pair of clothes, as some of the activities will include the children getting wet!

If it is raining tomorrow, our alternate day will be on Thurs., June 10.

Thank you!
