I am excited to be part of the SCIS educational community and am looking forward to my third year serving this dynamic and culturally-diverse community. As the SCIS Middle School Counselor, I believe in a strengths-based approach that recognizes the uniqueness of each student. Working in collaboration with parents, teachers, school leaders and community partners, SCIS offers a comprehensive counseling to support student learning and development, consisting of student monitoring and academic support, guidance programs that offer life skills, transition programs and strategies to manage the challenges associated with adolescence, as well as the provision of individual and group counseling. Through empathy, by setting high expectations, and in offering a nurturing school environment, I support the SCIS mission in motivating students to become reflective, life-long learners who contribute responsibly to our global community. Originally from Minnesota in the United States, I have traveled the globe extensively and have lived/worked in Lao PDR, Colombia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before calling China home.  As an English-speaking native, I am also fluent in Spanish, French and conversant in Arabic and Mandarin.  In my free time, I enjoy yoga, swimming and biking, hiking/camping as well as photography, dancing, playing guitar and singing. Most of all, I love meeting new people and giving back to my community. I look forward to another wonderful year connecting with, and supporting, our students, their families and my colleagues at SCIS!
